BLESSED ARE THE DEAD:
A Gabriella Giovanni Mystery
by Kristi Belcamino

Gabriella Giovanni is the black sheep in her big Italian-American family, foregoing marriage and motherhood for an adrenaline-pumping career as a newspaper police reporter. Her thirst for danger and a front-page story reels her into the abhorrent world of a serial killer who preys on children.

Her obsession spirals out of control when 9-year-old Jasmine Baker disappears on her way to the school bus stop. Investigators have few leads. A few months later, another little girl is snatched off the same city streets. But this child escapes and her kidnapper is arrested.

Gabriella repeatedly visits the kidnapper in jail hoping to find out whether he also took Jasmine. While he awaits trial, he lures Gabriella into his world with lurid accounts of his exploits as a killer and his promises to reveal Jasmine’s fate.

Meanwhile, Gabriella’s editors have threatened to fire her if she continues to get scooped by the larger newspaper in town. Because the kidnapper will only speak to her, she begins to believe that the future of her job and the way to find justice for Jasmine both lie in his hands.
